Lukashenko arrives at venue of CIS summit, Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko arrived at the Palace of the Nation in Dushanbe for the CIS Heads of State Council meeting. The Belarusian leader was greeted by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the CIS leaders and Secretary General will take part in a joint photo session. The CIS Heads of State Council meeting is scheduled to be held in limited and expanded formats.

The heads of state will review about two dozen items. The meeting is set to approve co-operation initiatives in countering terrorism and extremism for 2026-2028 and strengthening border security at external borders for 2026-2030, a concept for military co-operation until 2030. In addition, the leaders are expected to sign a declaration on co-operation in ensuring regional energy security.

The CIS leaders also intend to issue a number of statements: on co-operation in combating transnational crime; on combating money laundering; on financing terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and marking the UN’s 80th anniversary since its founding.
