Lukashenko arrived in Russia on official visit

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in the Russian Federation on an official visit, his plane landed at Vnukovo Airport, BelTA reports

The Head of State was greeted at the airport by Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk and Director of the State Protocol Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Bogdashev.

Given the official status of the visit, the welcoming ceremony at the airport involved the participation of the guard of honour and the performance of the Belarusian and Russian anthems.

Talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place today in the Kremlin. The heads of state will discuss the development of co-operation between Belarus and Russia and promising areas of interaction in a one-on-one format, and then in an expanded format with the participation of members of the delegations. The joint work in integration formats will also be in focus. The leaders will exchange views on the current international situation.

It is expected that a package of documents will be signed following the negotiations.

The programme of the visit also includes a number of other events stipulated by its official status.

In 2024, the Belarusian-Russian trade turnover amounted to $51.8bn (106.3 percent against the 2023 figures), exports — $26.3bn (104.8 percent), imports — $25.5bn (108 percent). During the year, the volume of trade in services amounted to $7.1bn (118.3 percent), including exports of $4.3bn (119.8 percent).
