Lukashenko approved amendments to intergovernmental agreement on parallel operation of energy systems of Belarus and Russia
Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the draft protocol on amendments and additions to the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Russia on certain measures to ensure parallel operation of the joint energy systems of Belarus and Russia as of March 15th, 2011. As reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader, corresponding Decree No. 327 was signed by the President on October 19th.
The draft protocol establishes the obligations of the parties to ensure the balance of active power in the event of a shutdown of the Belarusian NPP unit. The names of Russian legal entities involved in ensuring parallel operation of the power grids have been updated.
The implementation of the document will enhance energy security and reliability of operation of the energy systems.
The draft protocol has been approved as the basis for negotiations. The Government is authorised to conduct the latter and sign the document upon reaching an agreement within the approved draft.
