Lukashenko announced meeting with Hi-Tech Park residents
The President has made a corresponding statement during today’s meeting focusing on the establishment of a specialised state agency in the field of digital development in Belarus
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the Decree On Digital Economy Development is operational in the country, and the Digital Development of Belarus state programme is being developed. Actually, a whole block of the five-year socio-economic development plan is devoted to this issue.
“However, speaking seriously and conceptually, I am always wary of running before the hounds and going to please the present day. Certain steps should not be made to please the fashion. Digitalisation is fashionable now. Sometimes many people fail to understand what digitalisation is, but still it is fashionable. This is a trend, and we should not fall behind. In the past, we created our High-Tech Park without any fashion. It has played its role and is currently playing. By the way, I want you to tackle this topic today and inform me on what is happening in this Park," the Head of State addressed those present.
Aleksandr Lukashenko focused on the issue of an outflow of labour resources, saying, “As I am informed, there is such an outflow there that Belarus will die without IT specialists virtually tomorrow. In the near future, we need to devote a day to hold a meeting jointly with IT specialists, with the companies that work there, and make a number of decisions regarding the IT Park and IT specialists – since the process of some IT specialists’ leaving [the country] is really observed, and it is perhaps considerable. Therefore, we need to consider how dangerous it is for Belarus, from the point of view of security. On the other hand, we still need to go into the issue of IT technologies, IT parks and IT specialists so that we enjoy equal conditions for everyone. Time has come to resolve these issues.”
