Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on the topic of the meeting, “I will say openly: this issue is now among the most pressing for the state, and it is on a par with military security matters. We need to assess how the situation is developing in the country and in the world, what trends are coming to the fore, what conclusions should be made, where our efforts need to be directed to, and what practical steps to take. We will also consider the main directions of our country's foreign policy under these difficult conditions.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that an economic war against Belarus has been in place for almost two years, “Taking into account the events in Ukraine, we have been attacked in all directions (as I say, for good measure): trade, finances, and logistics. The key goal is to block our export channels and make us weaker through import restrictions – so that, in the end, all this will affect the welfare of our population. The speed of adoption of sanctions and the thoroughness of their elaboration indicate that they have been meticulously prepared for a long time. At the same time, it is clear that they would have been introduced regardless of the development of Russia-Ukraine relations. These sanctions could have been perhaps introduced not immediately, but in several packages – but we would have received them anyway. We are here talking more about Russia.”
