The Head of State started with the regions that take the lead: Minsk, Grodno and Brest regions. “Twenty-one regions of the Republic harvested over 100,000 tonnes.”

The leading agricultural enterprises include Gastellovskoye of the Minsk District, the Pravda-Agro branch of the Dzerzhinsky agricultural complex, the Grodnensky agricultural co-operative and that named after V.I. Kremko from the Grodno District.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that all regions have significantly increased the production of winter barley, “Thanks to the use of a domestic variety, the sowing area was expanded. As a result, 305,000 tonnes were harvested, which is twice as much as last year. It is also necessary to double the harvest of winter barley next year. We’ve also received a good harvest of oilseeds: about a million tonnes – enough to provide the domestic market with vegetable oil.”

The President also added that the country boasts a high level of production of potatoes, vegetables, fruits and berries, citing the following figures: the orchards, planted using intensive technologies in the agricultural production co-operative named after I.P. Senko of the Grodno District, gave us more than a thousand tonnes of fruits from an area of 26 hectares. Brest Region farmers have harvested more than 50,000 tonnes per hectare. There are enough such cases throughout the country, the President added.

The Belarusian leader particularly touched on personal records, “In this, as we used to say, struggle for the harvest, there are also personal records. There are many of them, but I will separately tell you about the most indicative, in my opinion. The crew of Sergei Maksimets from Krutogorie-Petkovichi JSC of the Dzerzhinsky District and Vasily Zur, an employee of Gomselmash, threshed more than 6,000 tonnes of grain on the domestically-produced Polesie harvester, leaving far behind the vaunted Claas and John Deere vehicles. Just think about it: these are two echelons of bread! One crew! This is the result we should strive for.”
