According to Ms. Gevorgyan, the UK and the US act as the planners of the escalation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. “Two days ago, it became known that the staff of the Russian Embassy in Armenia should not leave Yerevan and should stay near the borders with Azerbaijan. Against the background of the events in Ukraine, the aggravation of the situation in Transcaucasia seems to be real. From my point of view, London and Washington are the planners of such an escalation. They are making these efforts also to discredit Russia and its military,” she explained.

As reported by the Armenian Defence Ministry, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began using artillery, mortars and other types of weapons in the direction of Armenian Jermuk and Verin Shorzha early in the morning of September 14th.

In turn, Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry informed that, last night and this morning, the Armenian military shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the directions of the Lachin and Kalbajar districts with various-calibre mortars and artillery installations.

The military situation on the border of the two countries deteriorated on the night of September 13th, the parties accused each other of escalating the conflict. The countries reported casualties and wounded.
