Lithuanians grateful to Belarus for visa-free regime, expert explains

Thanks to visa-free travel, Lithuanians can now enjoy an opportunity to buy some goods and services at a lower price in Belarus than at home – as stated by Lithuanian political expert Kristoferis Voishka in his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel

According to the expert, Belarus is a social state – unlike Lithuania, “In Belarus, the situation with providing the population with necessary things is much better than in Lithuania. In our country, it is getting worse every day, and that is why our citizens travel to Belarus. Visa-free regime for citizens of Lithuania and Latvia is a very reasonable decision of the Belarusian authorities.”

Mr. Voishka added that – since no visas are needed – Lithuanians can buy some goods and services in Belarus at a lower price. “Our citizens used to travel to Poland, but it is even cheaper in Belarus now than in Poland,” he explained.

The expert noted that prices for food and utilities continue to grow in Lithuania, and the situation is difficult. “For example, petrol prices have exceeded two Euros per litre, and they might grow further – to double. Lithuanians are very unhappy with this. It will soon be too luxurious for ordinary people to drive a car,” he stressed.
