Lithuania to suffer losses due to transport sanction against Belarus and Russia

The suspension of cargo transportation to the territory of the Russian Federation and Belarus which is likely to be included into new packages of sanctions in connection with the events in Ukraine will lead to up to 72m Euro losses in the Lithuanian transport sector – as stated by a representative of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Lithuania, Zydrune Tursaite, TASS reports

"Possible losses in connection with the termination of the transportation of goods in the eastern direction may amount to about 72m Euros," Ms. Tursaite said.

According to last year’s data, 9.3 percent of all Lithuanian cargo carriers were engaged in the delivery of goods to Russia, and 8.8 percent to Belarus.
