Laying flowers at Lenin Monument on Nezavisimosti Square in Minsk
The solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Vladimir Lenin took place today on Nezavisimosti Square in Minsk as part of the celebrations dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the October Revolution, BelTA reports
“The Great October became a landmark event in the history of mankind, pointing the way to socialism, national and social equality, and revealing the creative forces of the working class, peasants and labour intelligentsia. In 1917, our Motherland opened a new world, when labour – rather than capital – began to rule. Lenin’s five slogans sound very relevant today. He offered peace to the nations, bread to the starving, land to the peasants, factories to the workers and power to the soviets. The name of the October Revolution is associated with numerous victories, accomplishments and labour accomplishments of the Belarusian people, which continue to be the subject of our pride. Due to October 1917, we gained our statehood, created economic and intellectual potential, were able to preserve and enrich the national culture,” said Aleksei Sokol, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus.
According to him, today Belarus is confidently following its own path of development. “Creative work, striving for social justice, respect for history and traditions are the main factors for the consolidation of the Belarusian society. All these are being implemented thanks to the well-thought-out political and socio-economic course pursued by President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” Aleksei Sokol underlined.
“I am deeply convinced that the future of our planet belongs to socialism. The truth of life is ours, the great logic of history is ours. The Great October holiday is a holiday not of the past, but of the future, and its light is directed towards tomorrow. The legacy of the October Revolution inspires whole countries, as seen from the colossal successes of China and Vietnam, with Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela also standing firm,” he said.
He congratulated everyone on the October Revolution Day. “With all my heart I congratulate you on this great holiday. I wish each of you happiness, health, peace and a deep understanding of the truth. Only unity in the struggle for peace and social justice will enable the brightest ideals of mankind to triumph,” added the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus.
