Lavrov: Washington must return to civilised behaviour to resume dialogue with Moscow

The United States should return to the civilised principles of interstate relations in order to resume dialogue with Russia, but so far there are no signs of this – as noted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports

“As for your question about what should happen in order for us to resume our contacts with the United States, they should change their behaviour. They should return to the civilised principles of conducting interstate relations, including those one that are enshrined in the START Treaty,” Mr. Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister added, “So far, we have not seen signs that the United States is even ready to think about the need to return to the origins set – as I have already said – in international legal documents, primarily in the UN Charter.” Mr. Lavrov also recalled that the UN Charter states the need to respect the sovereign equality of countries, “Its [US] actions directly contradict these principles. A hybrid war has been declared against Russia, and it is all-encompassing. In this situation, when the United States conducts such a policy, I do not see what changes should take place, except within the American establishment and, of course, within the collective West, which is completely crushed by Washington," the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.
