Lavrov: the fate of territories liberated from Kiev regime will be decided by their population
The fate of the territories liberated from the Ukrainian regime will be decided by local residents – as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a speech at the Znanie (Knowledge) educational marathon, TASS reports
Explaining the details of a possible referendum on the accession of the Zaporozhye Region to the Russian Federation, Lavrov noted that ‘I would not begin to guess now’.
“The fate of those territories that we liberate from the neo-Nazi regime will, of course, be decided by the people who live there,” the Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry explained.
He also recalled the goals of the special military operation that is being carried out in Ukraine.
“[They] consist in eliminating threats to the Russian and Russian-speaking population of Donbass, the republics that we recognized: the DPR and LPR, [in eliminating] the threats of Nazism, from which the entire Ukrainian people are already suffering. Of course, the task [of the special military operation] is to demilitarise Ukraine in the sense that no threats to the security of the Russian Federation are projected from the territory of this country,” underlined Sergei Lavrov.
