Lavrov: deliveries of long-range weapons to Kiev expand geography of special operation
If Ukraine receives long-range weapons from Western countries, then the boundaries of the special operation will be expanded – as stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview, RIA Novosti reports
He once again underlined the main task of the special operation of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, “The President of Russia said very clearly, as you quoted him: denazification, demilitarisation in the sense that there are no threats to our security, there are no military threats from the territory of Ukraine, and this task remains,” the Foreign Minister said.
The Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that during the March talks on the export of grain in Istanbul, the situation was different.
“Now the geography has changed,” Lavrov continued. “This is not only the DPR and LPR, now, it also includes the Kherson and Zaporozhie regions and some other territories. The process continues consistently and persistently.”
He noted that as the West pumps more and more long-range weapons into Ukraine, such as HIMARS, for example, the geographical goals of the special operation will be adjusted.
“We cannot allow the part of Ukraine that Zelenskyy will control or who will replace him to have weapons that will pose a direct threat to our territory and the territory of those republics that have declared their independence, who want to determine their future on their own,” he explained.
