Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs informed about the positive decision of the Latvian Parliament regarding the ratification of the two countries’ applications for joining the North Atlantic Alliance on his Twitter.

“The Latvian Parliament has just unanimously ratified the protocols on accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO,” he wrote.

Earlier it became known that Estonia was one of the first to ratify the agreement on the entry of Sweden and Finland into the alliance. The decision was supported by almost all deputies present in the hall. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the procedure for ratifying the protocols officially started on July 5th. Finland and Sweden will become members of the alliance only after the agreement is ratified by all NATO countries.
