Latvian Defence Ministry considers transfer of Stinger missiles and drones to Ukraine
Latvia is considering the possibility of transferring missiles to Kiev for the American Stinger man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as drones – as noted by the country’s Defence Minister Ināra Mūrniece, RIA Novosti reports
According to Bloomberg, the Head of the Latvian Defence Ministry said on local television that the aid package to Kiev would be a response to requests from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“The Ukrainian front is our line of defence,” said Ināra Mūrniece.
According to Bloomberg, the heads of the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian defence ministries will hold a meeting at which they will discuss joint procurement of defence equipment for the region, including the US HIMARS MLRS.
According to the Lithuanian military department, the ministers will also consider issues related to assistance to Kiev and preparations for the upcoming NATO leaders’ summit in Vilnius.
