Kuzbass Governor: we see basis for our growth in creating joint import substitution projects with Belarus

Joint import substitution projects can become the basis for the economic growth of Belarus and the Kemerovo Region, Ilya Seredyuk, the Governor of the Kemerovo Region Kuzbass of the Russian Federation, told reporters after his today’s meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko

The Russian governor emphasised that Kuzbass and Belarus have long-standing and strong ties, “We would like to expand these relationships. We believe that our economic growth relies on establishing joint projects and developing new types of equipment that are currently not manufactured in either Russia or Belarus. Our colleagues in Belarus, along with Kuzbass, possess sufficient potential and expertise in this area to facilitate our development.”

Mr. Seredyuk mentioned that this is relevant to the mining sector and the equipment used for the ski slopes in Kuzbass. He also noted, “We talked about the potential for exchanging tourist groups. We will take advantage of the invitation to visit the significant memorial sites in Belarus. In return, we are eager to welcome tourists to our ski slopes during the winter season. We have great snow from mid-November to mid-May, and we have observed a rise in the number of tourists coming from Belarus.”

The Russian guest stated that the development of economic and humanitarian connections between Belarus and Kuzbass will be supported by the establishment of a new airport in the Siberian region, which could lead to the launch of direct flights.
