Kukharev: trade-economic relations between Belarus and Russia’s Ulyanovsk Region boast significant potential

Minsk is ready to implement a range of key joint projects with the Ulyanovsk Region of Russia – as stated by Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev at a meeting of the working group on co-operation between Belarus and the Russian region, BelTA reports

Last November, during a visit to the Ulyanovsk Region, an action plan for an agreement between the governments of Belarus and the Ulyanovsk Region for 2023-2024 on trade-economic, sci-tech and cultural co-operation was signed by Vladimir Kukharev and Ulyanovsk Region Governor Aleksei Russkikh. The document envisages over fifty points across such areas as industry, construction, healthcare, information technology and innovation, as well as physical culture and sports.

Vladimir Kukharev noted that trade-economic relations between Belarus and the Ulyanovsk Region boast significant potential. The meeting reviewed the results of the activities that were planned after the visit to the Russian region.

“A number of very serious and important issues were worked out, so we would like to see what has been done. There are a number of projects that we are ready to implement jointly and for which funding has been allocated. These projects were discussed with Deputy PM Piotr Parkhomchik, and the results will be reported,” the Head of the Minsk City Executive Committee noted.

Moreover, the meeting discussed key areas of interaction with the Ulyanovsk Region: the development of joint projects in aircraft manufacturing and steel industry, the export of engineering products.
