Kubrakov: Interior Ministry ready to discuss any forms of co-operation with Iraq
Belarus’ Interior Ministry is open for dialogue and ready to discuss any forms of mutually rewarding co-operation with Iraqi law enforcement, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov said at the meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, sb.by reports citing the ministry

Mr. Kubrakov assured his guests that the Belarusian law enforcement authorities are open for dialogue and ready to study any forms of mutually rewarding co-operation. In the course of their prior visits, the Iraqi side showed interest in studying Belarus’ experience in protecting the public order and using UAVs, as well as in some products Belarusian companies make for the police forces.
The Interior Minister expressed a firm belief that this meeting will help fill prior agreements between the two countries with practical content and propel their mutual partnership to the next level. He offered to accelerate development of agreements on mutual extradition and combating crime. Another promising area for co-operation is training Iraqi police officers at education institutions reporting to the ministry. Belarus’ law enforcement has a wealth of experience when it comes to training foreign special forces operators, cyber-crime department officers, police dog handlers, etc.
The Iraqi Interior Minister thanked his Belarusian counterpart for the warm welcome and being ready to share his experience, and presented a number of proposals to better develop the partnership between the two countries, in particular when it comes to combating drug trade. He also invited Ivan Kubrakov to visit Baghdad.
The mission from Iraq was introduced to the equipment and facilities at the specialised education institution, vehicles and weapons operated by the police, the anti-terror Almaz unit and special purpose police detachments (OMON). The special forces officers demonstrated their skills to the foreign guests.
