Krzysztof Tolwinski on Poland's lack of political sovereignty: we are being used as a tool

The Chairman of the Front political party (Poland), Krzysztof Tolwinski, has taken part in the international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Prevention of Genocide held in Minsk today

"We, Poles, suffered greatly from fascism – like any Slavic people,” Mr. Tolwinski noted. “However, we do not value historical memory now, we do not object to its rewriting. For political reasons, the feat of the Red Army and the Soviet Union in defeating fascism is being erased. Recently, the President of Poland spoke at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly with the statement that the United States made the greatest contribution to the fight against Nazism. At the same time, the President of Poland is a highly educated person, it is impossible that he does not know the true facts. This is actually the manipulation of public consciousness.”

The Polish politician regretfully admitted that anti-Russian sentiments are strong in Poland at present, and this is a very dangerous situation. “Poland does not have political sovereignty. Its President and Government are subordinate to the United States. We act as a tool that is being used in a direction that is not entirely clear to us. If this continues, a catastrophe similar to what happened in Ukraine may occur on our territory,” he said.

According to Mr. Tolwinski, there is now a real battle in Polish society over whether a negative attitude towards the people of Belarus will be actually imposed on Poles.
