Kostevich: COVID retreats
Nursing homes and round-the-clock care facilities for the elderly are actively returning to their normal operation, as the sb.by correspondent was informed by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Belarus, Irina Kostevich
“The rotational method – when employees of a social institution do not leave its walls for 14 days – has proved itself as a fairly effective way to counteract the introduction and spread of infection,” said the Minister. “However, if in early 2021, a closed regime was used in 127 out of 156 inpatient facilities, now there are only 7 such institutions.”
Ms. Kostevich explained that, since March 2021, the country’s social service has begun to actively implement such a preventive measure to counter coronavirus infection as vaccination. Since last November, revaccination has already been carried out. Today, 96 percent of dwellers and 87 percent of employees are vaccinated in nursing homes, 59 and 27 percent respectively are revaccinated. This gave its results.
“It has become really easier to work,” concluded the Minister.
