Kochanova: representatives of all former USSR republics welcome to take part in Train of Memory project
The Train of Memory project, scheduled to be held from June 21st to July 5th, will cover fifteen cities of Belarus and Russia – as announced by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, as she met with the organising committee for the preparation and holding of the joint Belarusian-Russian patriotic campaign
“We see how some politicians are trying to rewrite our history these days. We must do everything so that the memory and the truth about the Great Victory, about those who died for us to live in peace are preserved and passed down from one generation to another. This is our sacred duty," Ms. Kochanova stressed.
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic recalled that, on July 3rd, 2023, the President of Belarus, expressed confidence while communicating with the project participants near the Mound of Glory that the train would surely bring together all the heirs of the victorious nations, from all the former Soviet republics, one day. “We heard that message and discussed it with Valentina Matvienko [Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation]. The issue is being worked out, and – most likely – representatives of the peoples of these countries will take part in the project this year," Ms. Kochanova said.
The project participants will visit eight Belarusian and seven Russian cities. Ms. Kochanova addressed the meeting participants – among whom there were the ministers, the heads of regional executive committees and public associations – with a request to do everything to ensure a high organisational level of the event.
