Kochanova: our sacred duty is to preserve the memory of war heroes

In our modern times, it is important not to forget those who defended the freedom and independence of Belarus at the cost of their lives, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, believes

An extended session of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic was held in Belynichi, and Ms. Kochanova was among those present. After her work with local citizens, the parliamentarians laid flowers at the city’s Alley of Heroes – honouring the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War.

It has become a good tradition to visit memorable places countrywide, and Ms. Kochanova noted, “As our Head of State says, Belarus is a living monument to that war. This is true. Unfortunately, there are many such places in our country, and we are now bowing our heads to those who died, who defended the freedom and independence of our country, who did not allow Nazism to take over. We honour the memory of those who died, and we remember those who are close to us. Sadly, there are fewer veterans every year, but we are happy that there are witnesses to those events. Therefore, it is our sacred duty to pass this memory from one generation to another.”

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic reminded the youth how important it is to value peace, “Thanks to those people who defended our freedom, we live under a peaceful sky, we can raise children and study – simply doing everything that is needed today for the development of our country and our people.”
