Kochanova: voice of Belarus' parliamentarians should sound brighter in international arena

Belarus plays a big role in the international arena, so the voice of its parliamentarians should be more expressive – as noted by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, in her talk with the STV TV channel, BelTA reports

"We have the right and must tell the truth about the processes that are taking place in our country. We should evaluate world events, and international activity is one of the main directions of our work. The Council of the Republic members are also members of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the CSTO, our parliamentarians quite effectively work within various international structures as well,” Ms. Kochanova stressed. “Wherever we speak, we talk about the peaceful policy of the Republic of Belarus. We have never threatened anyone, because we all know very well of the war that our parents, grandfathers and great-grandfathers went through. We cannot allow a repeat of those terrible events."

According to Ms. Kochanova, the task of the deputies elected by the people is to pursue a policy aimed at peacefulness, preserving peace not only in Belarus, but also beyond its borders. "We condemn attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of our country. At the same time, we always try to convey the truth about Belarus, the point of view that our President adheres to,” she said, recalling Aleksandr Lukashenko’s speech at the UN Climate Summit in the UAE. “Many watched his speech, and Aleksandr Lukashenko absolutely reasonably said then that we are looking for money to preserve nature and improve the ecological situation, so we should stop military conflicts and direct billions [of Dollars] to preserve a comfortable life on our planet. That's how our deputies should tell the truth to the people and their foreign colleagues.”
