Kochanova: no one has right to determine Belarus’ fate
Belarusian women cannot help but be concerned about the ongoing escalation of the situation around Belarus – as noted by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, at the grand opening of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum, which kicked off today in St. Petersburg
“Systematic attempts to interfere from the outside in the internal affairs of our country continue, alongside economic pressure, militarisation of the border area, military provocations, and the construction of iron curtains,” the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic noted. “We condemn the illegitimate sanctions policy of Western countries, the creation of artificial barriers to the movement of cargoes and goods, to the freedom of movement of citizens, as well as numerous discriminatory decisions in the countries of the so-called developed democracy, based on gross violations of human rights.”
Natalya Kochanova urged international organisations to effectively fulfil their mandates, ensure respect for the principle of sovereign equality of states, and seek an end to the arbitrary sanctions that exacerbate the global problems of mankind.
“No one has the right to determine the fate of Belarus,” the Speaker of the Council of the Republic underlined. “And this applies to every state. Belarus is a full-fledged member of the international family, and in the current conditions of globalisation, the internal well-being of our state largely depends on the situation on the external circuit. We, women, have no moral right to remain indifferent to everything that happens in the world.”
