Kochanova: inter-parliamentary liaisons between Belarus, Uzbekistan reached new level

Inter-parliamentary co-operation between Belarus and Uzbekistan has reached a new level – as noted by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus’ National Assembly Natalya Kochanova during today’s meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov

According to the Speaker of the Council of the Republic, the good, trusting and mutually beneficial relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan have developed largely thanks to the two countries’ leaders, “The relations between our states have been developing throughout history, but last year was particularly rich in events. In February 2024, our President visited Uzbekistan, which gave a completely new impetus to our interaction. During that visit, a number of agreements were signed, as well as a roadmap for the development of co-operation for 2024-2025, which our governments are now working to implement.”

Ms. Kochanova also noted that inter-parliamentary co-operation between Belarus and Uzbekistan has reached a high level.

“Last August, we paid an official visit to your country and took part in the 2nd Uzbek-Belarusian Women’s Business Forum, during which we held serious negotiations with our colleagues and also signed co-operative agreements for 2024 and 2025. I would like to note that after our visit, the presidents of our countries gave instructions to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached during Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Uzbekistan.”

In addition, during the Belarusian parliamentary delegation’s official visit, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Ms. Kochanova shared her views, “We had a detailed discussion about co-operation between our countries, about the relations that are developing between Belarus and Uzbekistan across all spheres. And, of course, we touched upon our inter-parliamentary liaisons. We have already met with Tanzila Kamalovna [Narbayeva] several times this year. In the near future, we are preparing to visit Uzbekistan to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.”
