“All our public organisations and state bodies have been involved in providing humanitarian assistance to those people who experience this situation now: refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border. By now, about 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been distributed among them. Tents were arranged; people received food there and could warm themselves,” Ms. Kochanova said.

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic highlighted the organisations that provide humanitarian assistance to refugees: the Belarusian Women’s Union, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and the Federation of Trade Unions. “People are actively involved in helping those who are in trouble,” she added.

At the same time, according to Ms. Kochanova, the Belarusian side is ready to continue providing assistance to refugees, “We have 10 tonnes of humanitarian aid in reserve. In the morning, refugees received food. In addition, medical care is provided to all who need it – primarily, to those who feel unwell. Children and women get sick.” About 60 refugees have so far asked for medical help.
