Khrenin: military doctors who completed their mission in Syria are real patriots, loyal to their military duty

Today Belarus’ Defence Minister, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin, awarded the medical detachment with diplomas, letters of gratitude, and valuable gifts in the Central House of Officers. Specialists of the special medical unit of the Main Military Clinical Medical Centre of the Armed Forces provided medical assistance to Syrians affected by the earthquake for thirty days. A strong team of 45 people – doctors, nurses, drivers, electricians, and signalmen – fight for human lives every day.

“You save the most precious thing we have: health and life,” said Viktor Khrenin during the honouring ceremony. “I’m very pleased that it was the military doctors who carried out the mission in Syria, providing assistance to people who found themselves in a difficult situation. When this decision was made, I had no doubts that our doctors would respond and go on this business trip.”

The Defence Minister is convinced that such an experience has become unique for the medical detachment, “This is an act of true patriots of Belarus, people who are loyal to their military duty. Listening to reports on the situation, the Commander-in-Chief was always interested in how the task was being carried out in Syria. The whole country watched reports from Syria to find out in what conditions you work. You had a unique opportunity to see for yourself what a country can turn into if it falls under the influence of the aggressive, radical policy of the US. The city of Aleppo developed very actively, but you could see what it has become as a result of the civil war. I think that you will tell your family and friends what they pushed us to do in 2020 and, unfortunately, continue to do it now.”
