Kazakhstan will not help Russia circumvent Western sanctions

Astana has refused to join the anti-Russian sanctions of the West but it will not allow circumventing restrictions on its territory – as noted by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi in his talk with the Japanese NHK TV channel, RIA Novosti reports

“In economic terms, Russia and Kazakhstan have close ties, and sanctions against Russia have negatively affected the economy of Kazakhstan. The country does not participate in sanctions against Russia, but adheres to the principle that it will not be used by various companies to circumvent sanctions. We will continue the current relations between Kazakhstan and Russia," Mr. Tleuberdi said.

The Foreign Minister also expressed concern about the Ukrainian conflict, noting that the President of Kazakhstan is in constant contact with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.
