Kazakhstan grateful to Belarus for assistance in stabilising situation

Kazakhstan is grateful to Belarus for its assistance in stabilising the situation – as stated by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, on meeting Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko in Nur-Sultan

As the sides met at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session in Kazakhstan, Mr. Smailov said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all Belarusian people for a prompt assistance provided during the recent tragic events in Kazakhstan. Belarusian peacekeepers contributed to the stabilisation of the situation.”

As Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister noted, the country attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Belarus. “We are determined to preserve the traditions of friendship and partnership between our countries. We also co-operate constructively within the framework of the EAEU, and I am convinced that citizens of our states will further appreciate the benefits of economic integration,” Mr. Smailov said, adding that the two states’ liaisons are dynamically developing along all avenues. “Your visit to Kazakhstan last June gave a new impetus to our bilateral co-operation. Our trade turnover increased by 15.7 percent last year, but even greater potential is available,” he noted.

According to Mr. Smailov, the countries enjoy good prospects in the implementation of joint agricultural projects.
