According to Nishimura, economic coercion is now a real danger. Therefore, effective counteraction to this will be one of the topics of the upcoming G7 summit in Hiroshima.

He also underlined the need to learn how to respond and identify the weaknesses of those countries that are trying to act with economic coercion.

Tokyo is known to preside over the G7 in 2023. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida started his G7 tour on January 9th, intending to visit France, Italy, Great Britain, Canada and the USA.
