Italian senator hopes referendum will bring much benefit to Belarus

“We hope the referendum will bring much benefit to Belarus,” a member of Italy’s Senate and Communist Party, Emanuele Dessi said, BelTA reports

“We have arrived to observe the referendum, but first of all to express our friendship to the Belarusian people and the government. On Sunday, we will work as international observers to monitor the constitutional referendum but have already seen that your country is absolutely free and democratic. And we hope that this referendum will bring much benefit to your country," Mr. Dessi said.

Emanuele Dessi is working in Minsk as an international observer from February 24^th-28^th, and the delegation also includes Matteo Peggio who heads the Italian Committee of Solidarity with Belarus informal association, and Igor Camilli from the Italian Patria Socialista movement. The organisations advocate the development of Belarusian-Italian relations and support the course of the Belarusian state aimed at protection of its sovereignty and identity.
