“It is very important to create such platforms for the exchange of views in order to promote dialogue in both economic and political areas. Indeed, in today’s word, when many global players are increasingly locked into their positions, the absence of dialogue heightens the risk of international tensions and conflict escalation,” the Italian politician said in an interview on the side-lines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Di Martino emphasised that there is currently a divide in Europe between public sentiment and government policies regarding Russia. He noted, “Regrettably, Western leaders are driven by geopolitical interests that frequently clash with the cultural and economic needs of their own citizens. We are already witnessing how the deterioration of relations with Russia is gradually undermining Europe’s economic structure. Therefore, I believe that Europe is becoming economically and culturally poorer without Russia.”
