Iohannis: crisis in Europe is one of the largest
The European continent is currently experiencing a serious crisis, and it is possible to overcome it if NATO and the EU unite their efforts – as stated by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, RIA Novosti reports
The Romanian leader pointed to a rather high number of victims of the ongoing events. “We are facing one of the largest humanitarian crises in our continent’s newest history, and it is generating an increasing number of victims, destruction and displacement of people inside and outside Ukraine," he stressed.
Mr. Iohannis added that, at this difficult time, Romania reaffirms its commitment to strengthening relations. The country supports steps to ensure regional security, protect Romanians’ freedom and build peace and democracy around the world.
"I am convinced that joint efforts of the international community, political dialogue – rather than confrontation, together with our overlapping and complementary goals, NATO and the EU will ensure the strengthening of European security and stability, especially in Southeast Europe and the Black Sea region," the Romanian leader said.
