Interior Ministry: Belarus strengthened its border with Ukraine, attempts to commit terrorist attacks will be stopped

Any criminal trying to commit a terrorist act on the territory of Belarus will be destroyed – as stated by Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov in his talk with the STV TV channel

Mr. Kubrakov stressed that the police service at the border is not a new task: it has been performed repeatedly, “Employees of both internal affairs bodies and internal troops of the Interior Ministry, together with the State Border Committee, constantly serve to protect Belarus’ borders. We have strengthened the border with Ukraine. The fugitives – who stay beyond our country – are constantly threatening and talking about attempts to commit terrorist acts on the territory of Belarus. The Interior Ministry is ready to ensure the safety of our citizens everywhere: near the border, in Minsk, and in any regional centre. To do this, we are all time training our personnel.”

According to Mr. Kubrakov, any criminal trying to commit a terrorist act on the territory of Belarus will be destroyed. “There can be no other options. The task of the internal affairs bodies is clearly set, and I am convinced that our police officers will cope perfectly well,” he said.

By the way, the Ukrainian military continues to carry out provocations on the border with Belarus. For example, on November 19th, at about 4pm, at the Slovechno railway checkpoint (Vystupovichi from the Ukrainian side), a video camera recorded the movement of an armed man on the territory of Ukraine in the direction of the border. Subsequently, he illegally crossed the border passing through the centre of the railway bridge and entered the territory of Belarus.

While on the territory of Belarus, the Ukrainian serviceman took photos and videos of the area, and also searched for or installed something in the snow. Verification measures are being carried out on this fact.

The Chairman of Belarus’ State Border Committee, Anatoly Lappo, noted that the presence of unidentified armed men without identification marks on the Ukrainian side of the border with Belarus creates danger. In order to respond, reinforced guard squads have entered on duty on the Belarusian side. In addition, technical means of protection are being actively used, and manoeuvrable groups of territorial border service bodies have been involved.
