Information attacks on Belarus continue

Against the background of the Ukrainian events, Belarus has experienced a strong information attack in recent days – as informed by Vadim Gigin, the Chairman of the Republican Znanie Belarusian Society, during his talk with Alfa Radio

“As for our battalion tactical groups that are moving and strengthening the border – why this has been done? You see what sort of provocations are coming from the side of Ukraine. Over the recent days, Belarus has experienced a massive information attack. Everything has been involved: social networks of our people are being attacked with false information, fake news about the allegedly launched mobilisation, and so on. We can even name these fake journalists who have reported that there are allegedly Belarusian troops on the territory of Ukraine and that there are even Belarusian captives. This is all a complete lie,” Mr. Gigin stressed.

The expert noted that, from the very beginning, Belarusian citizens were urged to monitor information and filter it – ‘since an information and psychological war is in full swing’. Mr. Gigin is convinced, “Reasonable people understand what is happening. When so many times they deceive and spread outright lies, this mass mailing is of no trust.”

“Moreover, our government and mass media resources are being cyber attacked; that is, they are trying to drag us into this conflict as much as possible. Look at the cynicism of the Kiev regime representatives. Belarus is making incredible efforts to organise the peace process; the President described in detail how this is all being done. We see that something is yielding results, though there is a lot of scepticism. At the same time, Ukrainians want to provoke us with their statements, to drag us into this war. Here, our military-political leadership need to be calm and self-possessed. Our main goal is to ensure the security of Belarus’ southern borders,” the expert added.
