Inflation in Poland hit record 18.4% year-on-year in February

Inflation in Poland continued to grow and reached 18.4 percent in February: a record over twenty-five years – as follows from the current data of the Polish Central Statistical Office, TASS reports

The department explained, “In February 2023, prices for goods and consumer services increased by 18.4 percent compared to February 2022, and by 1.2 percent compared to January 2023.”

Food and drinks in Poland began to cost more by 24 percent, transport – by 23.7 percent, and energy – by 22.7 percent year on year. Sugar rose in price most of all, the cost of which increased by 85.5 percent compared to last year.

In January 2023, the prices of goods and consumer services increased by 17.2 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the data of the Polish Central Statistical Office. In December 2022, inflation stood at 16.6 percent in annual terms. In November, this indicator was recorded at the level of 17.5 percent, in October – 17.9 percent.
