Belarus’ First Deputy Industry Minister Andrei Konyushko held talks with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan headed by Ali Hassan Zehri, the Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative of the Balochistan Province.

Welcoming the foreign delegation, Mr. Konyushko noted the friendly relations established between the two countries and expressed readiness to scale up mutually beneficial co-operation. “As our President noted earlier, concrete economic projects in the most promising and sought-after areas should be the vanguard of co-operation," he said, adding that Belarus is always ready to assist its Pakistani colleagues, including in meeting the needs for high-quality and efficient tractor equipment.

Two documents were signed during the meeting: a memorandum of understanding between Belarus’ Industry Ministry and Balochistan’s Ministry for Agriculture of and Co-operative, and an agreement on the establishment of an assembly plant for BELARUS tractors in Pakistan.

According to Mr. Konyushko, the establishment of the BELARUS tractor assembly plant is evidence of high friendly relations, proof of deep trust in each other, and demonstration of aspirations to develop mutually beneficial co-operation. It is expected that this project will become the starting point for the implementation of the most ambitious joint initiatives.

Ali Hassan Zehri noted that the agrarians of his country are well acquainted with the Belarusian equipment. He also called the signing of the agreement on the establishment of a tractor assembly plant in Pakistan timely and relevant, “80 percent of our population is engaged in agriculture, and the use of Belarusian agricultural machinery will significantly increase the volume of work in this sector.”

Mr. Konyushko also reminded that, in addition to tractors, Belarusian manufacturers are ready to offer a wide range of attachments and trailed equipment, as well as equipment for working in the fields. The experience of Lidselmash and Bobruiskagromash holdings, as well as the quality of their products, allow Belarus to occupy a leading position in the field of agricultural equipment and machinery production.

"The parties expressed confidence that the meeting would give an impetus to Belarusian-Pakistani relations and the development of industrial co-operation," the press service added.
