Indonesia ready to open diplomatic or trade representation in Minsk

A wide range of issues on the Belarusian-Indonesian agenda with an emphasis on development of bilateral economic co-operation was discussed at a meeting of the Belarusian parliamentarians with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Raсhmat Gobel

The meeting – held within the framework of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union – focused on implementation of the agreements reached during Mr. Gobel's visit to Belarus in October 2021, including during his visit to Belaruskali JSC, Minsk Tractor Works and other Belarusian enterprises. Special attention was paid to a possibility of Indonesian parliamentarians to support trade and economic co-operation projects. Prospects for liaisons in the agricultural, industrial, educational and IT sectors were also discussed, and the importance of economic efficiency of co-operation was highlighted.

Mr. Gobel informed the Belarusian parliamentarians on the intention to send a parliamentary delegation to Belarus to expand co-operation in the field of culture and development of people's diplomacy.

The Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sergei Rachkov, supported Indonesia's readiness to open a diplomatic or trade representation in Minsk since this would undoubtedly contribute to the intensification and development of business contacts and ties between Minsk and Jakarta.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Foreign Affairs, Andrei Savinykh, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Indonesia, Valery Kolesnik.
