India, US holding joint military exercises in Alaska
The Indian Defence Ministry has announced that the 19th Yudh Abhyas military exercises of the Indian and American armies will be held at the Alaska Fort Wainwright military base on September 25th-October 8th, RIA Novosti reports
It is informed that the Indian army of 350 people from the military personnel of the Maratha Light Infantry regiment will take part in the exercises. The United States will be represented by the first battalion of the 24th Infantry Regiment of the combat group of the first brigade.
The Defence Ministry also reported that the exercises will focus on the use of an integrated combat group in mountainous / extreme climatic conditions. They will also include humanitarian and disaster relief operations.
Both sides will conduct a series of tactical exercises to improve interoperability during UN peacekeeping operations.
