Minister of State Jitendra Singh, who oversees science, technology, nuclear and space industries in the Indian Cabinet, said, “The first unmanned mission is planned for the end of 2024."

The politician noted that similar missions ‘are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, respectively’. It is also specified that the first manned mission should take place in Q4 2026.

The Gaganyaan programme involves the implementation of manned space flights to low Earth orbit and laying the foundations of technologies that are needed for India's further space exploration in the long term.
