India developed equipment for space mission to Venus in 2024
The Indian Space Research Organisation has developed equipment for a planned mission to Venus, RIA Novosti reports
According to the Chairman of the Space Research Organisation, Sreedhara Somanath, the Indian organisation has many missions at the conceptual stage, the mission to Venus has already been configured, and payloads have already been developed for it. “Venus is an interesting planet, and its study will help answer some questions in the field of space science,” he said, not voicing the possible time of the mission launch.
A year ago, Mr. Somanath stated that a research station to Venus is planned for 2024, when the positions of the Earth and Venus will be as convenient as possible for such a flight. The station's entry into the orbit of Venus was then planned for 2025.
The Chairman of the Space Research Organisation also noted that if India fails to launch a mission to Venus in 2024, the next time the planets will occupy a convenient position only in 2031.
