Illegal migration caused $150.7b in damage to the US in 2023
The damage from illegal migration to the United States amounted to $150.7 billion in 2023, TASS reports with reference to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is expected to be officially established in the US President-elect Donald Trump administration
“In 2023 alone, illegal immigration cost taxpayers $150.7 billion,” DOGE posted on its X account.
It is also indicated that, adjusted for inflation, ‘the First World War cost $334 billion’ and the Apollo space programme cost $257 billion. At that, the construction of the Panama Canal took only $15.2 billion.
It is planned that the Department of Government Efficiency will be headed by entrepreneur Elon Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. They are ready to radically change the system of government in the United States. New technologies – such as artificial intelligence – are likely to become the main element of DOGE's work. Earlier, Musk announced during the Trump election campaign that he was going to reduce government spending by $2 trillion.
