If Russia waged full-scale war in Ukraine, it would have ended long ago

This opinion was expressed by the Russian State Duma Speaker, Vyacheslav Volodin, in his Telegram channel as he commented on Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement

Mr. Volodin recalled that the Ukrainian leader called Russia's special operation a war that ‘cannot be compared with any other in the 20th century’.

“If Russia were fighting a full-scale war, it would have been over long ago. This would have happened if we used the US usual tactics of carpet bombing and turned to the scorched land tactics – that has been applied by ‘the most democratic air forces in the world’ in Yugoslavia, Libya, Iraq, and Syria,” Mr. Volodin stressed.

The Russian State Duma Speaker noted that Russian soldiers and officers do not kill, but liberate peaceful citizens – sometimes at the cost of their own lives. “Our servicemen are doing their utmost to save civilians. Packets of neo-Nazi resistance are being targetedly eliminated. This is associated with risks to life. Nationalists are fighting in cities, amid dense residential buildings – where they hide behind ‘a human shield’, taking women and children hostage. In these difficult conditions, humane decisions are made, for example, in the situation with Azovstal when humanitarian corridors are organised," he added.

At the same time, according to Mr. Volodin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is silent about these facts. “Only not self-supporting president – who has given the country’s management to Washington and who thinks only of how to preserve personal power rather than Ukrainian citizens’ lives – can act in this way,” the Duma Speaker stressed.
