Hungary urges EU to review anti-Russian sanctions

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called on the leadership of the European Union and the leaders of other states to start substantive consultations on the revision of anti-Russian sanctions – as noted by Bertalan Havasi, the press secretary of the Head of the Hungarian Cabinet, TASS reports

According to him, Viktor Orban took part in a video conference with his European colleagues in preparation for the EU summit to be held in Brussels on February 9th-10th.

“On the issue of Ukraine, Viktor Orban once again called for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks, as well as substantive political debate over the sanctions imposed by Brussels that are destroying the European economy,” said Bertalan Havasi.

Moreover, the spokesman said that together with Viktor Orban, Head of the European Council Charles Michel, the president of Bulgaria, the prime ministers of Poland, Belgium, Finland and Malta participated in the videoconference. Along with this, he said that the Ukrainian conflict, the situation in the European economy and the fight against illegal migration will be discussed at the EU summit.
