Hungarian PM: US foreign aid used to overthrow government in Hungary

The so-called US foreign aid, the details of which President Donald Trump has decided to make public, was used to overthrow unwanted governments in other countries, including Hungary – as noted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, adding that ‘a huge scandal is brewing in America’, TASS reports

“The US President has decided to reveal to whom and how much money has been allocated by various government agencies in recent years. It turned out that the liberal world elite used the US budget and government to achieve their financial and ideological goals with American participation around the world,” Mr. Orban said.

“It was supposed to be aid, but in fact it was a means of political influence. They received money on the one hand from Soros foundations and on the other hand from the official state budget of the United States. They used this money to finance activities aimed at destroying society, promoting migration, fighting the institution of the family and gender madness all over the world,” the Hungarian PM explained.

He said the money went to opposition media and NGOs. “All this strengthened the power of the left, and they all received this money with the aim of overthrowing the government, i.e., to strengthen the opposition parties and to overthrow the Hungarian government,” Mr. Orban concluded.

Earlier, he pledged that the Hungarian government would not allow the use of foreign funding for political purposes in the country and would take action against violators of these rules, who are in fact foreign agents. Mr. Orban welcomed the Trump administration’s decision to suspend the US Agency for International Development (USAID), through which foreign aid programmes were funded.
