Hungarian PM: Brussels no longer plays role of EU co-ordinator and turned into ‘Frankenstein’

The European Union’s bureaucratic centre in Brussels has ceased to play the role of bloc co-ordinator and has turned into Frankenstein that pursues its own interests – as stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, TASS reports

“Brussels is no longer about co-ordinating member states. It has become a power center… a Frankenstein. It has its own empire, its own agenda,” the Hungarian Prime Minister told American journalist Ben Shapiro in an interview.

Mr. Orban shared the view that Brussels now considers ‘national identity to be the enemy’. He recalled that, under the original model, powers remained with EU member states, but that Brussels is now trying to accumulate more and more competencies. The Hungarian PM was particularly critical of the European Commission’s migration policy. He stressed that Hungary continues to guard its borders and take measures against illegal entry.
