Honey for Chechersk craftsman from President

The Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Gomel Region, Nikolai Rogashchuk, has handed over honey from President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Chechersk craftsman Aleksandr Plistov, BelTA reports

As reported, on April 29th, during his visit to Chechersk, Aleksandr Lukashenko was presented with an icon of St. George the Victorious. The latter was made by Aleksandr Plistov who used electroplating techniques in his work. The craftsman also presented honey from his apiary to the President. In response, the Head of State has sent a sweet treat to the master: jars of honey from Tajikistan, where the Head of State was on a visit, and also from the Alexandria and Minsk apiaries.

"It is delicious, healing, natural", the man said after tasting the honey sent by the President, adding, “It would be nice to exchange apiary experience.” Mr. Rogashchuk, in turn, promised to convey his wishes to the Head of State.

Mr. Plistov said that he has been engaged in honey collecting since 2006, keeping thirty bee houses at a couple of fields. His useful product is highly appreciated not only by relatives and fellow countrymen: the man’s money enjoys popularity at various exhibitions in which he takes part.

"Honey taste differs. If buckwheat is grown nearby, then buckwheat honey is collected. If rapeseed is planted, then we have rapeseed honey. However, honey from wild grasses is most common, and people highly appreciate it,” Mr. Plistov noted.

The Chechersk master also presented an icon of the Kazan Mother of God to Mr. Rogashchuk; it was made using electroplating techniques. Mr. Plistov stressed that only he works with such technology in Belarus.

"I received the blessing of Metropolitan Filaret and Archbishop Aristarch of Gomel and Zhlobin for making icons. I mastered the technology independently, and even had to delve into chemistry and physics. Over three decades of my work with this technique, I have participated in hundreds of exhibitions – but has never seen works of the kind," the master added.

Sweet gifts from the Belarusian leader – the Presidential chocolate – were handed over by Mr. Rogashchuk to the craftsman’s grandchildren.
