Head of President Administration: clean water project to be implemented in Belarus’ regional centres and large cities following the example of Minsk
The artesian water project, similar to the one in the Belarusian capital, will be realised in Belarus’ regional centres and major cities, Dmitry Krutoi, the Head of the Belarus President Administration, the President’s authorised representative in the Mogilev Region, told journalists after the meeting of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, which summed up the results of the regional socio-economic development and budget execution for 2024
According to Mr. Krutoi, it is important for people to see simple things that they face every day: salaries, transport links, housing and utilities.
“Clean water is at the top of the population’s priorities. The large-scale artesian water project implemented in Minsk should be repeated at the level of regional centres and then large cities. The relevant comprehensive programme on clean water for the next five years is being developed, including the replacement of infrastructure, new wells and equipment,” the official noted.
People are also concerned about the healthcare system. The sector is undergoing a comprehensive reform, and Br5bn have already been invested at the national level in the system of village first-aid stations and the purchase of new medical equipment.
“Medical clinics in the Mogilev Region are the country’s leaders in a number of areas, so Belarusians seek to go to the hospitals of the region,” the Head of the President Administration emphasised. However, he noted that there is a shortage of doctors and narrow specialists in a number of districts.
The topic of courtyards is also relevant. The region is implementing a good experiment: more than 200 courtyards are being brought into order not at the expense of centralised republican sources, but thanks to a local initiative. According to Mr. Krutoi, a lot of positive feedback has already been received, and the programme will be continued.
He also drew attention to the fact that over the last three years the Mogilev Region has had a certain breakthrough in terms of construction and reconstruction of social facilities, citing as an example the fact that almost half of the district hospitals had been completely renovated.
“This is something we have never done in previous years. The process will continue. The volume of investment resources in all areas that the region has reached today, which is about Br4bn, is set to be maintained and increased by another 10-15 percent in the next two years,” Mr. Krutoi concluded.
