Handful of Belarusian soil presented at unique exhibition in Luxembourg

An unusual exhibition – Terre d'Origine – La Collection – has recently opened in the Luxembourg city of Esch-sur-Alzette, authored by famous European artists Sandy Flinto and Pierrick Grobety who collected samples of soil from countries whose citizens live in Luxembourg

The project – presented as part of the Nights of Culture programme – also features a handful of Belarusian soil, which was delivered from Minsk to the Belarusian Embassy on the eve of the show. The diplomats then handed it over to the artists. In the annotation, the authors mentioned a legend of Minsk’s formation, which is associated with the heroic medicine man Menesk, also pointing to the heroic past of the Belarusian capital and the feat of its inhabitants during the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition will welcome visitors until September 16th at the Escher Theatre’s gallery.

Ekaterina Shatokhina, the Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in Belgium, attended the opening of the exhibition during her working trip. As informed by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, she also met with representatives of the Luxembourg authorities, the Belarusian diaspora and the diplomatic corps in Luxembourg.
