Gryzlov: Russia’s Consulate General will open in Grodno

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, Boris Gryzlov, has visited the Grodno Region today

Speaking of the purpose of his trip to the country’s western region, the diplomat noted, “As the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, I visit all regions of Belarus, and it is now the Grodno Region – which is very important since its trade turnover with Russia is more than 50 percent of the total turnover. It includes food products, which account for a 40 percent share, and also products of other enterprises. I planned to see how Russian raw materials are used in production at the local facilities, and have already visited Grodno Azot. The company uses Russian natural gas as a raw material, and its products are of great importance – especially today, since they ensure food security: fertilisers are produced here, which use contributes to good harvests. I think my meeting with the Grodno Regional Executive Committee’s Chairman is very important to focus on political issues.”

“I am now probably announcing for the first time that a decision has been made to open a Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Grodno. We will discuss a possible premise today. The process is developing in line with the regulations, but a political decision has been made and discussed at the level of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,” Mr. Gryzlov informed.
